About TiE-WhOA

Taiwo (TiE-WhOA) Abioye is a Nigerian American designer and artist. Her work is inspired by the heart of her culture and by the love of her community. TiE-WhOA’s mission is to bridge the gaps that exist across communities by developing designs and spaces that create conversations necessary to foster collaboration, create unity, educate, and nurture identity. Tie-WhOA hopes to deepen understanding within these communities by designing traditional prints that tell stories, and thus allow for shared experiences. She continually conducts research to develop programs that focus on issues that exist within the African Diaspora community. Creative space has arisen as an arena for building community and shaping self-worth, encouraging others to develop their own stories. TiE-WhOA aims to create a movement of empowerment, love, togetherness, and joy. Beautiful, vibrant design, with a story to tell.
